Weigh In Wednesday Week 1/Week 2

A lot of progress this first week. I am 6 feet tall and I started at 240 lbs 1.5 weeks ago. Today at weigh in I am at 229 lb. I lost 11.2 lbs and 2.3% body fat. My BMI is down 1.5%, now at 30.4. My goal is to get to 179 lbs and BMI 25.0%.

My why is still the same: to hold myself accountable while on my journey to optimal health.

My next goal is to reach 220 lb in 2 weeks. Making smaller goals always helps in reaching the bigger goal.

Over the next 2 weeks, I want to finish a longer walk on the weekend, 3 miles. I also want to be able to incorporate a 7 minute high intensity interval training session 1 to 2x per week.

On the nutrition side, I want to learn more about keto and find more meals that do not include bacon! I would like to find more vegetarian and pescatarian options and desserts.

I will continue to monitor water intake, sleep more, and keep stress levels to a minimum.

I do plan on doing another salt water flush in 2 to 3 weeks.

Lets do this thing together in continuing to forge forward to health living!

You are your biggest (fill in the blank)

Who are you? Are you your biggest fan, supporter, cheerleader, enemy? I had to ask myself this question each time I felt I have “failed” at something, received criticism that was not constructive, or dealt with a negative situation. I had to remind myself to be who I am and to be comfortable with that reality. To love myself in any situation, good, bad, or indifferent. This journey to optimal health is a lifestyle. Do not get me wrong, I am like everyone else. I want to look good in clothes and not have worry about shapers (or maybe I will have to after losing the weight). But at the end of the day, what is more important? Being able to fit in a smaller size dress or to be in better health? To look good in a bikini, or being able to prevent a major illness from developing? The choice is mine at the end of the day and it is clear that I choose me being in optimal health!God gave me this body and it is my duty to take care of it to the end of time. I do believe this.I will finish the sentence, You are your biggest supporter, lover, and friend. Believe in these words and try your best to be your best you each day!

More words from me about my journey, my walk, my reason why.

Why am I living holistic (Part 4 and final thoughts)

By this next visit, my diet had change. A couple of years ago, I started a new diet through Isagenix. Through this diet, I was introduced to intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting involves fasting part of the day or a couple days out of the week and eating the rest of the day or on other days. For example, one program will have a person fast from 8 pm until 12 pm the next day, with the first meal at lunch time and final meal at dinner (otherwise known as the 16:8 method). There are other methods where a modified diet can take place 2 days out of the week (500 calories) and eat whatever you want the other days of the week (5:2), and fasting for 24 hours twice a week (eat-stop-eat). It is a great way to give the digestive organs a break, keep insulin levels low, and lose weight.

Before my next visit, I started with intermittent fasting following the 16:8 method just described. I never was a big breakfast eater anyway, so as far as I was concerned, 16:8 fit my lifestyle.

I felt great! The first couple of days I have to admit, even with not being a breakfast eater, I was too anxious in looking forward to that first meal at lunch! But after a few days, it did not phase me much. And a couple of times, I fasted the entire day because I was so busy, I had my water with me and I did not think about food!

My diet cleaned up as well. I was not ordering out as much and looked forward to preparing my own meals. I used to make smoothies all the time. Jamba Juice was my fav…but I bought a blender (others destroyed by kids) and experimented with kale smoothies. I began adding more healthy fats to my diet like advocado, ghee, and grapseed oil. Healthy grains like quinoa, brown rice, and wild rice. Lots of fruits and veggies. Some meat in the form of wild caught flounder and salmon, and grassfed chicken/beef, but as little as possible. I cut down drinking wine everyday, to once/twice a week, to eventually not at all.

I started adding more activity during my day. I work from home always on my computer all day! So I began finding time to take a 20- minute brisk walk in the morning.

The supplements given were high quality medicinals. Garlic and Spanish Black Radish from Standard Process, Liver Detox and Oxycare from Physician’s Standard, and Marcozyme from Marco Pharma.

By the next visit, my liver was completely healed from the fungus! But my gallbladder was still struggling because of parasites in my thyroid (yuck!). So now I am on a parasite diet (no sugar, milk, or raw veggies, all cooked or blended veggies) and the Garlic supplement had been replaced with Diatamaceous Earth, minerals known to kill off parasites.

I am feeling great! I am walking a mile twice a day. My energy has increased. I am still doing the 16:8, although I have mixed in a little bit of the 5:2 and eat stop eat methods as well. I am currently doing salt flushes in an effort to cleanse my body, as well as drinking apple cider vinegar and matcha tea to enhance digestion and fat burning. So far, I have lost 8 pounds in the last week. I am going to post about my weight loss journey in the near future as this is crucial and important to my overall health.

I will add updates to this part of my journey here and there. I go to Well of Life in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for all my holistic care needs. The staff there are great and full of knowledge. I just wish I would have found them sooner!

Please share these posts and tell me, how are you cleaning house?

Why am I living holistic (part 3)?

Over the next 2 weeks after that initial doctor’s appointment, I took my supplements religiously. I drank water half my body weight. My diet was not so clean at the beginning.

At my next appointment, the doctor’s muscle testing showed my liver improved by 70%. I was to continue with my supplements and come back in another 2 weeks.

I was super happy that the fungus was going away and my liver was improving. I was feeling better as I was somewhat sluggish at the beginning of all this. A funny thing happened within the next 2 weeks. I wanted to eat more whole foods! I was drinking kale smoothies nearly every day. Eating more quinoa and less or no pasta. Eating more vegetables and fruit and less and less meat. I have started eating less bread. My cravings for my junk foods was decreasing each day.

I was having more energy and feeling really good overall! I was looking forward to my next visit and hoping and praying that most, if not all, of my problem health issues resolved.

Why am I living holistic (part 2)?

Through a series of tests which included measuring my heart rate when lying down and standing up, testing my muscles, and testing which supplements my organs responded to the best, I found out from my first visit that I had a fungal infection in my liver that could be healed. I was relieved that my issue could be healed, but really scared and concerned I had this issue because of my mother recently passing away from a digestive system related cancer.I was given medicinals to treat the fungal infection: spanish black radish, garlic, liver detox, OxyCare (nutrients that help deliver oxygen to the cells), and digestive enzymes. How did I feel? I felt a great tingling sensation on the right side of my abdomen, especially after taking the liver detox. I was very tired and sluggish. My diet was ok, but not very clean. I noticed that after about a week, I felt much better after eating whole foods, veggies, fruits as opposed to pastas, noodles, greasy meats etc. These supplements were of the highest quality and do agree with a poor diet. So I cleaned up my diet more just to include more greens and colorful fruits and veggies and much less junk.I was drinking more green smoothies and took a liking to ginger shots. Jamba Juice became my new hangout! I began eating more quality grains like quinoia, wild rice, and brown rice. I was beginning to feel more energetic. At this point, I was eating 3 meals a day, not really giving my liver a break. I had my next appointment in a few days with the holistic doctor. What would she find? Would the fungal infection be gone? Check out my next post on my progress over the next 2 weeks…Presented below is my presentation on how I prepared a delicious kale and mango smoothie! Enjoy!

Why am I living holistic (part 1)?

Whole foods and supplements everyday…but what if I get weak? I jump back on the horse and try again! My health is way too important to give up on me now.I have been buying organic since 1998, but did my first cleansing in 2015. It was a gallbladder flush…my diet was not the best. Thereafter, I have done water fasts, juicing, colonics, a host of other stuff. However, these were for maintaining the good health that I already had. It truly was not a lifestyle change, until…I lost my mother to pancreaatic and bile duct cancer. I was truly devastated because my mother was my best friend. We laughed, cried, argued, and now I lost the one person who had my back and I had hers for 47 years. I knew I had to make a change because the cancer my mom had takes 20 years or more to be seen and to become fatal. So many questions I had as to why my mother was gone. I lost my biological father 3 months prior. Why is this happening to me? I am God fearing…but had so many feelings of anger, confusion, sadness…I could not make sense of it all.I also had feelings of fear like, what if the cancer my mom had was genetic? What if I had a malignant cell that was growing and I did not know? I have a lot to live for, and so instead of being fearful, I decided to go to a holistic doctor to address my concerns. The first visit was one of learning about muscle vibration and understanding how the muscles communicate in telling which organ/organ systems have issues and what are the issues!Did I have an issue? Was I sick? Did I need an intervention? Could I be healed? The answer to all those questions are yes. I will go into what I’ve learned about my health in tomorrow’s post!Below is a short video of a kale smoothie I prepared to break my 16 hour fast! It included kale, green apple, ginger, chia seeds, blue agave, ice and water. Enjoy!

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Today is Day 1 of my blog. Today, I am following 16:8 regimen, which I will be 16 hours fast and meals incorporated 8 hours of the day. Yesterday, I fasted for 24 hours, having 1 meal at the end of the day. I had roasted cabbage, kale, red peppers, and onions over brown rice pasta (gluten free), roasted organic sweet potatoes with nutmeg and cinnamon, and a side of lemon, lime, and ginger water, which I drink several times daily.

I am fasting now drinking my water with a little apple cider vinegar added to it. I am feeling really good right now. Yesterday, I was on edge and snapping out on family members…not good:(. I am about to take my proteolytic enzyme supplement. I am currently on a parasite diet/ cleanse recommended by my holistic doctor, which includes other supplements that I take with meals. I will go into what these supplements are in a separate post. I have been taking them for the past 2 weeks. I just finished a liver cleanse diet weeks ago…did that for about a month.

There is a lot to discuss on how my holistic doctor came about which supplements I should take. It is through the use of vibrational medicine and feeling how the muscles communicate. This will require another post in the future as I am still learning about it.

Happy Sunday to all! Have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow!
